What is your favorite school tradition?
Displaying school spirit during the fall season is one way that many people have responded as being their favorite high school tradition.
The fall season is always packed with fun things to do.
“The football games are a good time. You get to see everybody you know. It also leads into the weekend,” senior Camden McDaniel said.
Senior Hunter Hoy has a similar experience in showing his school spirit.
“The football games are a good tradition. It’s fun doing the themes, coming from Mr. Cougar,” Hoy said.
And students don’t just enjoy attending the games.
“I like the pep rallies because I get to see if our school’s got some spirit and which grades are the best,” junior Jeremy Parrott said.
Prior to the Friday pep rally comes another popular tradition: Spirit Week.
“My favorite tradition is definitely spirit week just cause–for the people who actually do it. I think it’s so fun to see the people walking around the hallways in the outfits or the colors or whatever the theme is,” senior Kenzie Anderson said. “I think it’s a fun way to build up all the excitement to actual homecoming and homecoming game at the end of the week.”
Senior Jackson Briley has a different way to show his school spirit.
“I rock with homecoming. It’s a fun time, nice dance, and I like to have fun after the dance as well. I think everybody likes homecoming, and it’s a big school tradition that people like to do,” Briley said.
Senior Leianna Rawls enjoys expressing her school spirit by dressing up during Spirit Week.
“I guess my favorite tradition would be pajama day. It’s always fun to see what outfits people show up in, and it’s fun to be cozy all day,” Rawls said.
Some students enjoy when the school celebrates their culture. Every year our school embraces Hispanic Heritage.
“Hispanic heritage month–like when everyone came to the cafeteria, and we celebrated it because we got to see different nationalities and got to eat different foods,” senior Johnathan Reed said.
One of the most enjoyed traditions at our school doesn’t come until spring is underway.
“I think prom because it’s such a universally known high school tradition and usually a fun time for more people,” senior Manav Bhalla said.
