A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity has presented itself, just like the lunar eclipse and various other events like it, which have happened for us. Lent, a Christian holiday; Ramadan/Eid, a Islamic holiday; St. Patrick’s Day; and the Persian New Year have all fallen in the same month. This is a phenomenon that isn’t seen often, four major cultural events colliding at the same time.
We get to see the different and beautiful ways these cultures celebrate and demonstrate how they go through these important days.
“Ramadan can be difficult since we’re not eating anything throughout the day, but it’s worth it because you know other muslims around the world are doing this with you, you also know that when the sun sets, you can eat and have a great meal with the rest of your family.” Junior Ibraheem Muhammad said
In a world that often feels divided, this calendar coincidence acts like a stabilizer. It reminds us that communal joy and spirituality are shared.
“I think it’s amazing that such important events can happen all in the same month.” Junior Alyssa Smith said
The rare intersection of Ramadan, Eid, St. Patrick’s Day, Persian New Year, and Lent is a great reminder that even though we all come from different cultures and religions, we all value the same things. Whether it’s devotion to God, celebrating time with family, or reflecting on ourselves, we are all looking forward to becoming better versions of ourselves and celebrating with our loved ones.
