Carpentry students compete at State Fair

Four students entered the North Carolina Department of Labor Carpentry Apprentice Contest at the fair last week.

Students built a scale model of a dog house and competed against 20 other teams.

The team of Josh Putnam, Austin Burnette, Brayton Simas and Jason Boutieller finished 11th.

Carpentry teacher Bobby Hoffman said the students felt they could have done better.

Hoffman said, “I know they did their best, and there’s not much else you can ask for.”
