The Junior Reserve Officer’s Training Corps, also known as JROTC, held its annual activation ceremony Sep. 30 in the gymnasium.

The activation ceremony, which serves as a means to commence those with leadership roles, also recognizes those who participated in summer activities such as the JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge Camp, Youth Education Summit, and Boys and Girls State.

The ceremony promoted senior Jackson Matthews as the Battalion Commander, senior Chardell Hodges as the Battalion XO, and senior Benjamin Kris as the Command Sergeant Major.

During the ceremony, several students spoke, one of which was 2014 graduate Ceanise Nock. Nock served as Battalion Commander in her time here and spoke to current cadets about achieving accomplishments and what is to be done in order to continue to do well in the future.
