The  XC team competed in the NAC-VI conference meet Oct. 17. The boys finished in 3rd, while the girls finished in 4th place.

Both teams scored similarly in past years. Last year the boys placed 2nd, and the girls placed 4th.

Coach Patrick Marshall  mentioned that they have some promising new athletes that may be able to contribute to next year’s success.

“I think both teams will improve next year. The boys are losing more runners than the girls, but the younger athletes we have on the team have been really improving. Also, I am sure we will add some new freshmen as usual,”  Marshall said.

We also have two stand-out athletes that took first place. Freshman Lily Alston came in at 19:45.06, while junior Matthew Walker came in at 16:45.75. Both runners have put in the  work to achieve first place, and it is now prevalent.

“At the beginning of the season I would have been surprised, but after seeing how hard they both worked and how well they were running, I knew that they had a good shot of winning the meet,” Marshall said.
