The FCCLA organization recently attended a regional leadership conference in Sanford Dec. 1. The Sanford site was one of three statewide, with over 1,000 students attending at all three meetings combined.

Eleven students earned awards at the conference.

Sophomore Erin Jones took 2nd place in the Chapter Social Media competition.

“We learned a lot about the different categories of events that you can compete in at states. We also learned how to properly put your states project together,” Jones said.

Jones cherishes the fellowship aspect of the club.

“I love the competitions and everywhere you can travel, and it’s just a good experience to be able to go to a bunch of different places and meet a bunch of different people.”

Junior Felcia Osoro also enjoyed the conference. She loves the career aspects it has to offer and is interested in applying it into the later years of her life.

“What FCCLA means to me is how being in the club can help you pick out a career path because I’m interested in going into the family consumer science field, and I love helping people,” Osoro said.

Orso, along with seniors Madelyn Cira, Nathan Konopka, Davis Remsburger and Nora Shchell, took 1st place in the FCCLA/FCS Knowledge Trivia competition.
