After claiming the conference championship title, the gymnastics team is preparing to take their talent to the next level: the state championships. With dedication, teamwork, and strong leadership, the team is ready to show that their hard work in the gym truly pays off.
For many of the gymnasts, this season has been one of both personal achievement and growth.
Junior Nava Robinson, a standout member of the team, shared her excitement about the upcoming season, emphasizing the camaraderie of the squad.
“It’s senior season, so I’m really just looking forward to being with my friends that I’ve been with since freshman year,” Robinson said.
Robinson explained that the team’s practices are both challenging and rewarding. Every day, the girls balance physical strength, precision, and mental focus—all while supporting each other like a family.
“We start practice at 3,” Robinson said. “We usually stretch, play a game, and then do two events before switching to the other two. Conditioning is mixed in, and we usually do two routines each day on each event.”
While practices are only about an hour and a half long, the schedule is tightly structured and efficient. This efficiency is enhanced by specialization, as not every gymnast works on all four events—vault, bars, beam, and floor. Teamwork and specialization have played a major role in the team’s success.
“Most people don’t do all events,” Robinson said, “We only have two girls that do all of them.”
Sophomore Macy Crider experienced a different kind of challenge this season when she was sidelined by an injury. Despite not competing, Crider’s dedication to her team never wavered, shifting her focus from performance to support.
“It’s made me support my team more than focus on myself,” Crider said, “I’ve been cheering on my teammates and encouraging them to keep pushing. It’s really taught me how important it is to stay positive and be there for your team.”
Even while recovering, Crider is already looking ahead to next season.
“I’m just looking forward to being back on the floor. There’s nothing like competing with your teammates and feeling that energy.”Crider said
The gymnastics team’s bond extends far beyond the competition mats. Through early practices, long meets, and shared goals, the athletes have built a close-knit community centered around friendship and perseverance. Their support for one another has helped them face challenges—from injuries to performance nerves—with strength and unity.
As the team prepares for the state championships, the gym is filled with excitement and determination. Coaches and athletes alike are focusing on clean routines, confident landings, and steady performances under pressure.
The upcoming meet will not only test their athletic skill but also celebrate their journey. For Robinson and the rest of the upperclassmen, it’s a powerful reminder of how far they’ve come since their freshman year.
“Every season has its ups and downs, but what makes it special is that we’re all in it together. no matter what happens, I’m proud of how far we’ve come.” Robinson said
The gymnastics team will compete in the state championships next week, having already proven their teamwork, resilience, and school spirit to be truly champion-worthy.
