Timothy Domack was awarded Teacher of the Year for 2024. His hard work and positive persona have inclined his peers and students to have a great impression of him and vote for him
Domack has a long history with this school, teaching for 14 years comes with lots of learning opportunities and experiences. His persistence and devotion also add to the many reasons for his win as Teacher of the Year.
“Humbled, I think is probably the best word, you know, because it’s your peers that are nominating you and then voting for you,” Domack said. “It was cool because you are being recognized for something that you love to do anyway.”
Everyone has some kind of motivation or inspiration to do a job whether it is for the thrill, to help others or something entirely different, especially a job like teaching.
“I think inspiration and motivation kind of go hand and hand, but all the people I’ve worked with over the years, seeing them move on and go to school or work at Julliard, Broadway or places like that. There’s something inspirational about that,” Domack said. “ That’s motivational to me to push my students even further to do more of a challenge.”
Some of the best memories are made around people that you know you can help grow and achieve their dreams.
“When students get into the school they have been dreaming about, and they come to me, and they’re so excited, and I’m like yes because it’s awesome,” Domack said. “But as far as like specific moment, it would be when I did the production of Mamma Mia and the musical ended and we have 400 people out in the audience and they applauded and then they stood up and were cheering.”
Domack is very passionate and immersed in his love of theater. He does many things outside of school theater-related at different places giving himself a diverse taste of the different theater experiences that could be had.
“I used to do a lot of rock and roll stuff at PNC. I’m in contact with Duke, and I do probs for the Duke shows. I build for Theater Raleigh and anybody else that’s looking,” Domack said.
Domack has put in work and dedication towards WFHS. He has taken all the right steps to get to where he is now and he deserves the Teacher of the Year title for his perseverance.
