On a certain day of the month, you might start to see teachers and administrators dressed up in wacky outfits or costumes.
This is because recently, a new event, secret staff spirit days, have sweeped the school.
Once a month, teachers are encouraged to get together and dress up for a given theme.
The theme is kept a secret from students, but they’re able to submit their guesses through a form. Students can access this form through a QR code located in teachers rooms.
Last month, over 100 guesses were submitted, and once these spirit days become more well-known, this number is expected to climb even higher.
Students who correctly guess the theme are entered into a raffle to win a prize.
Sara Roberts, an art teacher at the school, manages the monthly event.
“Secret Staff Spirit days were created by the Hospitality Committee to engage students and staff in a positive way,” Roberts said.
Many teachers thoroughly enjoy the break they get from the seriousness of the workplace.
“People who like to dress up have a really good time,” Roberts said.
Students also enjoy the spirit days. A teacher dressed up in a strange outfit or silly costume can lighten the mood of any classroom.
“I love seeing my teachers dress up,” junior Larissa Scott said.
Make sure to keep an eye out for any teachers dressed curiously, because you could be next month’s prize winner.
