The North Carolina State Fair is here! The Fair is the largest 11-day event in North Carolina, attracting more than 800,000 attendees. This event only happens one time a year, so you bet a lot of people show up. The fair hosts many diverse musical acts, numerous food vendors, games booths and carnival rides, commercial and agricultural exhibitors.
One of the biggest problems students discussed about the fair this year was how many people attend.
“We only go one day because it’s too crowded. This was the first time since 2018 we’ve been and we probably won’t go back anytime soon, solely because it’s way too crowded,” sophomore Grace Bailey said.
One of the most well-known things about the State Fair is the food, ranging from deep fried oreos all the way to giant turkey legs.
“I am getting a candy apple, Korean corn dogs and probably a turkey leg,” freshman Kassidy Bell said.
The rides are also another main part of the fair.
“I really like that UFO one, where it spins you around really fast, and you get pinned to the wall,” senior Grace Hare said.
But some people still don’t trust the rides enough to go on them.
“I’m not interested in any of the rides because I feel like they’re unsafe because they’re built and torn down so quickly,” Bailey said.
Senior Naomi Smith also has similar experiences.
“I am not interested in any rides because they make me sick, and I have a fear of them breaking down.”
Games are one of the biggest attractions at the fair.
“In middle school, I played a ring toss game, and I managed to win a five foot tall sloth thing,” Hare said.
Another reason to play the games at the fair is the prizes.
“I do want to win at least one or two prizes. I have won a prize before last year. It was a big unicorn,” Bell said.
So if you wanna have a fun fall season and are looking for something to do, the North Carolina State Fair is for you!
