Summer is a great time for high school students to work, to enjoy their free time and to soak in all the benefits of being out of school. But with all these activities, teens can not always do everything they wish to.
Some students wish they spent more time improving a certain skill set that furthers their knowledge in that field.
“I was not able to practice guitar as much as I wanted, because I spent most of my time practicing drumming,” sophomore Alex Pracht said. “Guitar is interesting to me because I love music, and guitar lets you look at music differently than piano or other instruments.”
Playing an instrument isn’t the only way students wished to enjoy music.
“I wish I went to a concert. I was planning on going, but then I didn’t,” sophomore Reece Taylor said.
Other students wished they could leave home for a while and get away to a location on their bucket list.
“Something I wish I did this summer was go to Hawaii, because it’s just such a beautiful place,” sophomore Noah Christensen said.
A big achievement for kids in high school is being able to level up their license as they become more experienced drivers.
“I wish I could’ve driven more. I’d like to get my level two permit, and it’s enjoying to do with friends,” sophomore Sean Rodriguez said.
The upperclassmen that have already achieved their full license now look for a final piece of the puzzle.
“I wish I would have gotten a car because I got my license. I just didn’t have time to get a car,” senior Emma Littleton said.
Leaving the country is another bucket list item for many adventurous students.
“I wish I was able to travel outside of the country over the summer because I never have,” senior Macey Watt said.
Many students explained how they were away too much during the summer. Sometimes being right at home is a perfect choice.
“I don’t know, probably spent more time with my family. It’s my family., It’s important,” senior Chase Matala said.
With a surplus of friendly competitiveness during the summer, a few students wish they didn’t take up any challenges.
“I wish I had not played basketball with Lamar, although I hit two half-court hoopies. As a man, it just meant a lot for me to hit hoopies in his face,” sophomore Landen Holland said.
Some students are still looking for a chance to fulfill an adventure that they have yet to explore.
“I wanted to go on a cruise because I’ve never been on a cruise before,” freshman Ella Fournier said, “It’s important to me because I want to see different parts of the world.”
And of course, students wish they used some more of their free time to better themselves.
“Well, work out a bit more. I am trying to build muscle. Y’know, be the best I can be,” sophomore Micah Atkins said.
