Kaplan Named WF Good Neighbor

Last month, junior Jordan Kaplan was nominated by the Human Relation’s Council for the town of Wake Forest’s Good Neighbor of the Year Award.

Annually, the council recognizes two residents from Wake Forest that work to “improve the quality of life in their neighborhoods without seeking recognition for their efforts.”

“I was very surprised and happy when I got that phone call” Kaplan explained when she heard she was nominated by her neighbor, Jessica Roth.

In Kaplan’s words, the award is Wake Forest’s way of recognizing residents who are committed to “preserving, maintaining and improving the quality of life in their neighborhoods and our community.”

Mayor Vivian Jones presented the award to Jordan, and the adult nominee (ages 19 and older) at the special plaque presentation. Jordan commented she felt very honored to get the award from her.

Neighbor of the Year Awards have been presented yearly since 2010 in Wake Forest.

“A perfect nominee for the Good Neighbor of the Year Award is selfless, caring, friendly, trustworthy, and helpful,” Kaplan said.
