Senior Andrew Mallo recently set the meet record and the school record for the 1600m at the Wake County Championship Meet with a time of 4:18.07. In a competition with 25 Wake County Public High Schools, not only did he win first place, Mallo’s performance officially makes him the fastest 1600m athlete in Wake County Championship history.

This momentous achievement is proof of Mallo’s hard work and dedication to Track and Field.

“I mean it feels great. It’s what I’ve been working for, so I’m glad it paid off,” Mallo said.

In addition to his two new records in the 1600m, Mallo holds the school record in the 800m with a time of 1.53.25. Mallo is pleased with his performance and numbers and is concentrated on continuing his success as his high school athletic career comes to a close.

“I’m just focused on getting faster and keeping up with what I’ve been doing this whole season.”
