Football Team To Spend Season On The Road

Like any year, the 2021 varsity football team faces many challenges. But unlike other years, one obstacle looms large for the Cougars.

“The biggest challenge is not playing in Trentini, our home stadium. Our seniors will not get the opportunity to play in front of the Cougar Crazies and loyal fans at home,” coach Reggie Lucas said.

The stadium is currently undergoing a complete rebuild from the ground up.

The added mileage didn’t seem to faze the players as they racked up two victories to start the season: 36 to 6 over Southern Durham and a shutout versus Clayton, 48 to 0.

Even with the hurdle of being on the road, the Cougars aim to collect positive and helpful
experiences.

“Playing on the road every week prepares you for playoff type games, especially this year where all our opponents are tough. Our players are learning how to play in tough environments early in the season. This could be valuable when we play conference games,” junior varsity coach Glen Dillard said
