Wake County dropped a bomb on all students and staff by transitioning to Canvas from Google Classroom. Canvas, along with other websites, brings more problems and complications for students and staff to deal with.
Google Classroom was very easy to use and navigate for students, but Canvas is more janky and more complicated to post assignments for teachers. There have been many instances that I’ve experienced where teachers had trouble getting assignments posted on Canvas. Google Classroom tells you everything flat out how to do it, and with Canvas it’s like figuring out a puzzle.
However, Canvas isn’t the only online complication Wake County has given us; there are 9 to 10 other websites that they want students to keep up with which causes confusion. You have to go through several different websites and enter many different passwords just to look at your grades, which is annoying to do constantly.
Trying to figure out which website has what on it is hard to keep up with. MackinVia has library books and is used for reading certain books online for classes. NCed Cloud has even more websites on it like PowerSchool and CCRG.
