The Trentini scholarship is one of the most prestigious and sought-after awards in the school.. The award for the 1st place winner being $40 thousand and $1.5 thousand for the other finalists. This award is only possible because of Anthony J. Trentini, his legacy kicking off with him being an exemplary teacher and coach for the football team in 1956 after he refused an offer to be a pro football player and instead focused on sharing his skills with students. It’s an honor to have had an amazing leader and coach like him give precedence to our school. This is why the Trentini Scholarship was founded, to find students who best symbolize the legacy Trentini left behind by being an excellent scholar, leader, teammate and athlete.
These students are handpicked by their teachers who observe their excellent behavior and analyze how these students show their leadership qualities. This year, the scholarship is back and has been awarded to five students who share many aspects of a true scholar and athlete. The hardworking winners of the Trentini scholarship are, Jeremy Parrot, Kennedy Bowman, Evan Helfich, Kayla Taylor, Lydia Bosch and Sophia Kuzora.
High school is one of the many places where you will decide and work towards the life you want for yourself. The biggest step is deciding what college and major you want to continue with.
¨I plan on attending NC State University and studying business administration,¨ Bowman said
While high school is a place where you make big decisions, it’s also where some of your best memories come from.
¨My prom proposal to my girlfriend in my junior year is my favorite thing I’ve done in high school. I got my cross-country team to form the word prom with their bodies on the track. There’s a photo of us smiling, and there are 50 people in the background spelling the word prom, ¨ Parrot said
One of the main requirements for winning the Trentini scholarship is being an athlete. Some of the sports played by the winners include soccer, swimming, football, golf, dance and lacrosse among others.
The Trentini scholarships awarded money assist students with making the big decision of how they want to go about their future, taking a big load off the winner’s shoulders and making it easy for them to follow their passions.
The student announced to win the $40 thousand was Kayla Taylor, who was overjoyed.
¨I was in utter shock when I heard I won the Trentini Scholarship. I was in disbelief that it was truly my name that was called. That shock was quickly followed by an overwhelming sense of gratitude,¨ Taylor said
This scholarship is a great prestige and takes lots of hard work and dedication. It honors not only Trentini but also emphasizes the hardships that come with being a student-athlete by giving them their own scholarship. These students have worked tirelessly to get where they are but their passion and dedication for their futures is ultimately what got them this award.
