From 2006 to modern day, Taylor Swift has dominated the music industry with a total of ten albums from country to pop, leading to an impressive net worth of $740 billion.
After all the albums, not including the new “Taylor versions,” it was only natural for Swift to have a tour celebrating her journey as a musician, creatively called The Eras Tour.
After the release of her latest album, Midnights, Swift announced the tour on all of her social media platforms, along with Good Morning America. Fans quickly flocked to websites like ticketmaster to buy their tickets.
However, considering Swift’s fame, the tickets were far from cheap, averaging from $49 to $499, depending on the seating.
Some were lucky enough to have family members pay.
“I spent nothing, but my brother spent like $500,” junior Felicity Pierce said.
In this case, the common adage is true; you get what you pay for.
“She performs for three hours. It’s like a long event. You get out at like midnight,” senior Mirabelle Scheurle said.
In true swiftie fashion, the fans made going to the concert an event. For senior Peyton Scheele, picking her concert outfit took some deliberation.
“It took like a month, and I had to search different websites and figure out what era or what album I wanted to do,” senior Scheele said.
Swift not only encouraged her fans to have fun, but to also interact with each other more than they would at an average concert.
“I really enjoyed all the people. Normally everyone ignores each other, but everyone was having a great time,” senior Alyssa Herbst said.
Fans would make friendship bracelets to trade and share with other concert goers, and they also made up cheers to sing at certain parts of Swift’s songs.
Of course, the most exciting part of any concert is the music. For the eras tour, each show had a 44 song set list going through each of the eras in her music career.
“The songs she sang were all her best songs, and the energy was really nice,” sophomore Kiaran Jackson said.
Each era had corresponding sets and costumes used. From an actual cabin for her Folklore era, a place where Swift could swim under the stage in a bedazzled bodysuit and even a house with a room dedicated to each of her eras: no expense was spared.
Even with her impressive net worth, Swift had little to worry about when it came to the expense of her tour. Several of her shows were completely sold out, and she is expected to surpass a billion dollars from the ticket sales alone.
Every fan was distraught when their concert was over, but they still had things to look forward to. Swift announced Aug. 9 that a Taylor’s Version of her fifth album 1989 would be released Oct 27.
Sept. 26 she announced that a movie would be released of her show in Los Angeles in theaters Oct. 13. Several students had already seen the tour in person, but they also decided to see the movie as well.
“I have like three tickets already. My mom and I are going, and I’m going with my friends a few times,” Sheurle said. “It’s a whole theater vibe, just the whole theater singing together, so it’s like another concert basically.”
Taylor Swift has proven herself to be an international phenomenon. We can only wonder what amazing feat she will do next.
