There are many leaders in our school, but the ones who represent us don’t know what they do for us. The SGA is the Student Government Association, full of our representatives, grade-level officers, and many leaders. They plan our events, take many survival opportunities with our community and represent us together. But let’s take a deeper look into what happens.
“SGA’s main focus is making sure that the voice of the student body is heard. We want to represent the voice of the students and do our best to make the best school environment possible for them through events, and everything else school spirit”, senior Ruby Marsallo said.
Sophie Faulkner, Junior class president, let us have a better look into what she does in her line as the one in charge of their social media website. Creating posts to get uploaded to our Forest Fire News teams instagram helping people know what’s happening in our school and community.
We asked Faulkner more about her position and what she does just for us with her team, wanting to know just how many leadership opportunities are presented. Faulkner gave us her look.
We also wanted to know more about what they discuss in the SGA.,
“We talk about prom, homecoming, spirit weeks, teacher events, and much more,” junior Nava Robinson said.
“Cougar Camp is a great way to show leadership. We do a Q+A panel and give tours to incoming freshmen. I love helping others and even being like a mentor,” Faulkner said. “Other leadership things I do include the announcements, creating posts to remind others of our upcoming events and sometimes I get to share with the student body officers at our meetings. At our officer meetings.”
Faulkner and her team have shown their leadership by helping the students in our school and not only here but all throughout Wake Forest, holding events and volunteer work around our community.
“We also do volunteer things such as supply drives for charity and gift baskets for our counselors and bus drivers,“ Faulkner said. “Our main topic of interest is truly creating an enjoyable atmosphere for not only our students here but our staff members as well.”
