Wake Forest High School Inaugural Hall of Fame Class

Wake Forest, NC – 1/23/17 – The Wake Forest High School Athletic Booster Club in conjunction with Athletic Director Mike Joyner announces the inaugural class of the Wake Forest High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

The organization intends to honor the contributions of athletes, coaches and volunteers who were a part of Wake Forest’s rich history.

“We are proud to announce our inaugural class of the Hall of Fame.  Our committee has worked very hard to put together a well- rounded class that represents the history of our school,” Joyner said.

We are pleased to announce the following nine people for induction:

Lisa Squirewell– An All-American basketball superstar in the early 1980s who went on to an All-Conference career at East Carolina.

William Massenburg– All-American basketball player who continued his career at Elon where he led the Phoenix in scoring for two seasons.  He continued a professional career in Germany for four seasons.

Kevin Stanley– A 1999 4A state wrestling champion, four time regional champion and conference champion in his career.  He is the career leader in wins at WFHS with 148.

Larry Lindsey– Won six state basketball championships in his career:  1971, 1972, 1973, 1977, 1978 and 1979.  He also served as athletic director during his tenure.

Ron Hales– A 1970 graduate, he coached at WFHS from 1981-2011 serving as head football coach from 1999-2003 and athletic director from 1992-1997.

Rodney “Rock” Harrison– Longtime head football coach who served in that position from 1978-1998.

Jamie Holland–  Football superstar who went on to play at Ohio State and then professionally for the San Diego Chargers, the Los Angeles Raiders, the Cleveland Browns and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Anthony (Tony) Trentini– A beloved teacher and coach from 1956-1963.  The stadium at WFHS is named in his honor.

Jennifer Cummings– Softball superstar who was a four- time all-conference pitcher and player.  She was two- time conference player of the year and went on to play at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Hall of Fame class will be introduced at halftime of the home men’s basketball game against Heritage  January 31st and will be officially inducted at a banquet at the school May 4th.
